Purchasing an Internet cafe operating license has become more expensive since 14 Chinese government departments including the Ministry of Culture and State Administration For Industry and Commerce (SAIC) stopped issuing new licenses in late February, reports Modern Express. The price for Internet cafe operating license in Chongqing and Shenyang have increased from 100,000 Yuan to 120,000 Yuan and from 300,000 Yuan to 400,000 Yuan, respectively. Prices have reached 1 million Yuan in first tier cities such as Beijing.
