Sniffer

Sniffer – it is universal system for traffic calculation. Traffic information is taken from network card. Practically all you have to do to start traffic calculation – it is write correct filter.

To enable sniffer you have to do several things:
1. Disable build in proxy (uncheck corresponding checkbox)
2. Select your network card from “Network adapter”
3. Check, if checkbox “Sniffer enabled. Uncheck if you…..” is checked .
4. Write filter. This is the main setting for sniffer. Filter defines which traffic should be calculated. For most networks, when NAT is enabled filter – “(proto TCP or proto UDP) and not src net 192.168” would work correctly. If it does not work, see manual – file ("BPF Filter Format.txt").
“Refresh traffic information on server when client traffic change on” value is used by client part of program to inform server part about traffic. Small value can slow up server, too big value can be expressed in inaccurate information about traffic. For 1mbit internet connections value about 10kb is most appropriate.

Sniffer can only calculate traffic. For traffic blocking you have to set up firewall
